IRVING, Texas – Texas running back Roschon Johnson was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first time Johnson, a true freshman, has earned one of the Big 12's weekly honors. He is the second Longhorn to earn Newcomer of the Week honors during Tom Herman's tenure as head coach (Caden Sterns – Sept. 24, 2018).
Johnson carried the ball 21 times for 121 yards in Texas' 42-31 win at West Virginia on Saturday. His 121 yards led all Big 12 newcomers last week and marked Johnson's first career 100-yard game.
