PASADENA, Calif. -- Either way, everyone knew history would be made on this electrifying, postcard-perfect Wednesday night in the Rose Bowl.
So it was, with a scintillating 41-38 comeback victory by quarterback Vince Young and the University of Texas over the University of Southern California before 93,986 fans in the Bowl Championship Series title game.
Young's 8-yard touchdown scramble with 19 seconds left gave Texas its first lead of the fourth quarter and, more important, its first national championship since 1970.
