AUSTIN -- Each week, Texas men's basketball coach Shaka Smart has a special orientation meeting just for his three freshmen.
Why the separate meetings? "Cause they are separate," Smart said. "They might as well be from a different universe."
For the moment, the Texas freshmen are adjusting pretty well to their Big 12 surroundings.
Eric Davis Jr. delivered four 3-pointers in a decisive first-half stretch Tuesday as No. 24 Texas started a key home stretch with an 85-78 win over No. 10 West Virginia. Fellow freshmen Tevin Mack and Kerwin Roach Jr. combined for 18 points and each hit two big free throws in the final minute after West Virginia chopped a 16-point Texas lead down to six.
