The dozen games that Shane Buechele started as a college freshman last season are now giving him an advantage in Texas spring practice.
Offensive coordinator Tim Beck told reporters after Thursday's practice that Buechele, the former Arlington Lamar standout, has an edge on incoming freshman Sam Ehlinger in the quarterback competition.
"I think he see things faster," Beck said of Buechele. "Defensively, there's a lot of movement. There are a lot of things happening. He's able to adapt quicker. He's able to see it and understand and know where the hole might be and where he needs to go with the ball faster.
