Even if Sooners do want out of Big 12, exiting a power conference isn't easy

Three takeaways from recent developments in college sports:

1. Oklahoma and the Big 12

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum suggested in a radio interview that Oklahoma wants "out pretty desperately" from the Big 12. It made headlines even though the Sooners' dissatisfaction with the Big 12 is nothing new. I wrote a piece last year just before the Red River Rivalry where fans and even a school regent were up front about it. President David Boren has taken his shots at the Big 12 at different times. But exiting a power conference isn't easy. There's the granting of rights that runs through 2024-25 and coincides with the Big 12's TV contracts with Fox and ESPN.
