NEW ORLEANS - Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger was named to the watch list for the 2019 Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, on Wednesday. The Manning award recognizes the nation's top quarterback and is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
Ehlinger, an Austin, Texas native, played in and started all 14 games a season ago. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the league's head coaches and a semifinalist for the 2018 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award after finishing the year with 3,292 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and 16 more scores on the ground.
