Two former Texas Longhorns will need to find new NFL homes, as both Chris Nelson and Calvin Anderson were both released on Monday after signing priority free agent contracts after the NFL Draft.
Nelson was one of six players waved by the Pittsburgh Steelers following the conclusion of their rookie mini-camp, after signing with the club quickly after the draft concluded. Nelson’s skillset lends itself to a 3-4 defensive scheme, which 12 NFL teams currently employ.
As a graduate transfer in 2018, Anderson came to Texas from the Rice Owls in hopes of increasing his standing with NFL teams.
