Catcher Cameron Rupp, who attended Prestonwood Christian and the University of Texas, has taken his release from Triple-A Round Rock.
Rupp, 29, was hitting .274 with an .866 OPS in 130 plate appearances at Round Rock. The Rangers have opted to continue to look at Carlos Perez, claimed off waivers from Atlanta, as the backup catcher for his defensive skills. The Rangers' backup catchers -- Juan Centeno and Perez -- have combined to hit just .141 this season in 64 at-bats. Centeno is currently the starter at Round Rock.
Briefly: Banister said he thought Adrian Beltre moved better in his first game back from the DL Thursday than he did the first time he came back from the DL.
