Cal RB Tre Watson transfers to Texas; joins Longhorns over Texas Tech, LSU

After a spring practice filled with questions regarding Texas' running backs, the Longhorns made a major splash on Sunday, landing California grad transfer Tre Watson. The 5-foot-11, 205 pound back tallied 950 yards from scrimmage for the Bears in 2016, missing much of last season due to a lower body injury.

Watson's decision to join the Longhorns provided a big boost for the burnt orange backfield. No Texas running back topped 400 yards in 2017, and no bell cow back has emerged for spring practice. Watson, who will pursue a Master's Degree from Texas, can make an immediate impact.
