AUSTIN, Texas – Yusuf Bizimana was tabbed with Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week after his NCAA record-setting weekend at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite.
Bizimana broke an eight-year NCAA record in the indoor 1,000-meter with his time of 2:18.10. The times bested Brannon Kidder of Penn State's previous NCAA record of 2:18.26 set in 2016 and previous Texas record holder Pablo Squella's record of 2:21.19 set in 1984.
The six-time All-American was also named USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Week for his accomplishment in Louisville. Wednesday's honor marked the first career Big 12 weekly award for Bizimana during the indoor or outdoor season.
