Bevo’s Daily Roundup: West Virginia president is in favor of being among lone no votes to kill CFP 12-team expansion

West Virginia Mountaineers president E. Gordon Gee was, at one time, in favor of a 12-team College Football Playoff expansion plan. Now, according to a recent interview with the university’s school paper, he is not.

“I am on the College Football Playoff Board of Directors and I was a strong advocate for the 12-team playoff,” Gee reportedly said. “I am now no longer because I think with this changing environment, we want to keep it very narrow and keep it so there is a lot of opportunity to reconfigure what we’re doing in athletics.”

It is a perplexing move for Gee, especially given the fact that the Mountaineers would have to walk themselves out into a dark pasture one night and strike a deal with the devil if they were to ever even get remotely close to qualifying for the current four-team CFP model.
