The Texas Senate approved a name, image and likeness bill on Thursday, the Dallas Morning News report. That means Texas athletes would be able to profit off the careers they build while on the Forty Acres. The bill would go into effect on Sept. 1.
From the Morning News: “For years, the push for NIL bills felt as seasonal as talks about Texas seceding. ... California started a domino effect by passing its own NIL legislation in 2019. Other states followed, and the NCAA lost its control to legislatures in the process.
