Baseball’s season comes to a close with 2-1 loss to Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif.—With a 2-1 loss at the hands of regional host Long Beach State, Texas Baseball's season came to a close on Monday night. The Longhorns finished the season 39-24 in head coach David Pierce's first season at the helm.

Long Beach State picked up its first run in the first frame when a wild pitch and a throwing error allowed Jarren Duran to score.

The Longhorns couldn't muster up much offensively through the first three innings, and in that time, the Dirtbags added another on a first-and-third play.

Down 2-0, Texas broke through with its first hit of the game in the fourth inning—a single by senior Zane Gurwitz—but the Longhorns were unable to score.
