ORLANDO, Fla. – Texas Baseball held on for a 6-3 win over UCF in the series opener on Friday at John Euliano Park. The Longhorns (31-19, 16-9) will now try to clinch the series over the Knights on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT.
Max Grubbs started and pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on seven hits. He struck out five batters and picked up his fifth win of the season. Gage Boehm tossed two shutout innings of relief to pick up his sixth save of the season.
Jared Thomas went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, while Porter Brown was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
