AUSTIN, Texas – Maxime Rooney, a 10-time Swimming & Diving All-American and three-time first-team All-SEC performer at the University of Florida, has elected to transfer and compete for Texas, Longhorn Men's Head Coach Eddie Reese confirmed. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Rooney has traditionally been a freestyler, but as a junior at this year's SEC Championships, he won the 100 fly and finished second in the 200 fly. He followed those performances with a fourth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships in Austin to earn All-America honors. Rooney also anchored Florida's 800 free relay that placed fifth, dropping a split of 1:31.
