AUSTIN -- Just as Texas kept alive Charlie Strong’s hopes of a coaching return in 2017, the Longhorns severely damaged the Big 12’s current College Football Playoff hopes.
Trent Domingue connected on a 39-yard field goal from the right hash mark with 46 seconds left that gave Texas a 35-34 win over No. 8 Baylor. The upset victory at Royal-Memorial Stadium, coupled with Oklahoma State’s defeat of West Virginia early Saturday, left the Big 12 without an unbeaten team with the first CFP rankings to be announced Tuesday.
“You could just tell the grit within this team,” Strong said.
