AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas graduate guard Max Abmas has been named the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Division I Men's Basketball Team Member of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday. In conjunction with the accolade, Abmas also was one of five players named to the CSC Academic All-America first team and was joined by Brandon Angel (Stanford), Marcus Domask (Illinois), Tyson Degenhart (Boise State) and Cam Spencer (UConn).
Abmas is the first player in program history to receive the Academic All-American of the Year honor and just the third student-athlete at The University of Texas to be recognized as the Academic All-American of the Year in their respective sport, joining Justin Dumais (2001-02, Men's At-Large, Diving) and Donovan Kilmartin (2007-08, Men's Track & Field/Cross Country).
