The professional football career of the former Texas Longhorns football quarterback Garrett Gilbert didn’t go as planned. Garrett Gilbert was a former five-star signee for then Longhorns head coach Mack Brown to join the 2009 BCS National Championship runner-up squad. Yet, the career for him on the Forty Acres went far downhill starting during the 2010 campaign.
Garrett Gilbert wound up transferring out of the Texas Longhorns football program after a few years under Brown to join the SMU Mustangs. He would round out his college career with SMU before trying to make his way into the NFL.
