Controversy in the past few weeks has put a dark cloud over the Terrapins heading into the 2018 season.
Maryland will likely be without its head coach, DJ Durkin, come Saturday. Durkin is still on administrative leave as the school continues to investigate the death of Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair.
An ESPN report a few weeks back brought to light issues of player abuse and a "toxic culture" under Durkin's leadership, including a situation that led to McNair's death in June, just a couple weeks after he collapsed during a team workout.
