AUSTIN -- The No. 9 Longhorns survived a major scare from Baylor on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and won 23-17, despite quarterback Sam Ehlinger going down on the first drive of the game.

Just as Texas' offense was moving deep into Baylor's side of the field on the opening drive of Saturday's game, sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger jogged off toward the sideline with a bloody throwing hand. Junior Shane Buechele jogged in as Texas' new starting quarterback.
