On Saturday afternoon at the Army All-American Bowl, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei product Bru McCoy brought his well-documented recruitment to a close on national television, and it’s a story that didn’t end favorably for Tom Herman, as the nation’s top-ranked athlete announced his commitment to the USC Trojans over the Texas Longhorns.
Though McCoy’s decision to stay home comes as disappointing news for Texas, the five-star California native’s choice wasn’t a surprising one.
Yes, Texas likely made this recruitment a little too close for comfort from the USC side, but there was never a time in which the Trojans weren’t overwhelmingly considered the team to beat.
