A key Texas Longhorns cornerback target is now off the board, as Tucker (Ga.) product Isaiah Dunson committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday during an official visit to Coral Gables.
Dunson was a former Florida State commit who reopened his recruitment following the termination of Willie Taggart in early November. Meanwhile, the Longhorns lost two cornerback commits in the days before Dunson decommitted, but didn’t offer the 6’2, 180-pounder until December.
Those weeks of waiting likely ended up playing a role in his decision.
Miami was able to step into the void — cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph was in immediate contact with Dunson back in November and that paid off on Sunday.
