After remaining a silent commitment to the Texas Longhorns for nearly two months, Katy Cinco Ranch linebacker David Gbenda finally went public with his decision on Sunday by announcing his pledge to the Horns:
The 6’0, 218-pounder chose Texas over nearly 25 other offers, including Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, and Washington, a group of school that largely made up the top 10 list that he released in July.
In-state contenders TCU and Texas A&M seemingly loomed as the biggest threats to Texas, which offered Gbenda back in March. He took multiple visits to College Station, but was also on campus in Austin multiple times and the Longhorns ultimately emerged as the heavy favorite to land his services.
