The Texas Longhorns survived an abysmal shooting performance to defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks in overtime, 73-71, in Friday night's Armed Forces Classic at Fort Bliss in El Paso. Texas is now 2-0 and hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Monday night at the Frank Erwin Center.
Here are three takeaways from Friday's game:
1. Texas finds a brief groove from 3-point range in first-half surge
The Longhorns got off to another slow start offensively, similar to the sluggish one during Tuesday's season-opening win over Eastern Illinois. Texas started 2-of-8 from the field in the early going Friday night and was in a 13-5 hole.
