A total of 20 current or former University of Texas student-athletes and five coaches will compete in the upcoming Rio Olympics.
AUSTIN — Twenty current or former University of Texas student-athletes have earned spots on their home country's Olympic teams, and five coaches with ties to UT Athletics also will participate in the upcoming Olympic Games. The 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be held Aug. 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
All told, UT athletes and coaches will compete in 10 different sports (men's basketball, men's golf, women's rowing, men's swimming, women's swimming, men's tennis, men's track and field, women's track and field, men's volleyball and women's volleyball) and represent seven different countries (The Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, United States and Venezuela).
