Texas was well represented at the 2016 Olympics.
Across 20 sports, 125 athletes with ties to the state -- from birth or high school graduation, as residents or college attendees -- competed. They won a combined 45 medals.
In total, they represented 29 countries other than the U.S. from as close as Mexico and Canada to as remote as Palau and Zambia.
Expect the Texas connections to again be widespread come the 2020 Games in Tokyo from July 24 to Aug. 9.
Here's a look at 10 athletes with Dallas-area ties -- including a swimmer-turned-law-student and a duo of reigning gold medalists -- who could be participating in the opening ceremonies in one year at Olympic Stadium.
