Texas Longhorns quarterback Tyrone Swoopes was spotted around campus on Monday wearing a walking boot, but head coach Charlie Strong indicates that the boot doesn't mean that Swoopes is seriously injured.
“It’s an ankle tweak but he’ll be fine,” Strong said, via Garrett Callahan of the Star-Telegram. “A lot of those guys like to walk around in boots, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just for looks. But he’ll be OK.”
Swoopes said he is unsure when he hurt his ankle during this past Saturday’s 33-16 victory over #23 West Virginia.
“It wasn’t anything too serious,” Swoopes said. “I’ll be out there Saturday. I’m fine.”
The Texas Longhorns are glad to hear that seeing that the young QB helped captain Texas to its first win over a ranked team since 2008.
Despite his inconsistencies, the Longhorns will enjoy some continuity with Swoopes as he leads the offense in Texas' visit to struggling Oklahoma State on Saturday night.
