The Texas Longhorns might be just 4-5 overall, but a signature home win over the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday could do wonders for the way we look back on the program's 2014 college football season.
Texas stands at just 3-3 in the conference, but still has plenty to play for come Saturday. A win for Charlie Strong's crew and they need only to split their remaining two contests to have a shot at the postseason.
Also, if the once-vaunted Oklahoma Sooners fall to Baylor on Saturday (a distinct possibility), Texas could slide ahead of the Sooners and into fifth place in the Big 12.
While that might be a lot different than the title hopes Texas and its fan base carries into every year, overcoming inconsistency and getting a solid bowl invitation is nothing to sneeze at with the way this transitional season has gone.
