Texas Football Recruiting Update: The "Florida Five"

The Texas Longhorns had a disappointing first season under head coach Charlie Strong, but finished strong and have used that momentum in recruiting. Here's the latest news from the Longhorns' recruiting trail:

TWO ARMY ALL-AMERICA BOWL COMMITS

The U.S. Army All-America Bowl turned out to be a big party for Longhorns fans as defensive back Tim Irvin and tight end Devonaire Clarington both committed to Texas during the game. Both players are four-star recruits and should play right away for Strong.

“There’s a better opportunity for me to start there,” Clarington said of Texas. “Texas is the biggest school in America. Texas will be getting all of my abilities. My route-running, hands and athletic ability. I’m not your normal tight end. I’ll show everyone in the first game against Notre Dame.”

GILBERT JOHNSON

Texas got their final commitment from the "Florida Five" when wideout Gilbert Johnson committed to the Longhorns on Sunday.
