Ryan Newsome chooses UCLA over Texas
Four-star Aledo (TX) wide receiver Ryan Newsome has verbally committed to the UCLA Bruins after a head-to-head battle between the Bruins and the in-state Texas Longhorns.
Newsome also took official visits to Ole Miss (Oct. 4), Tennessee (Oct. 25th), and Oklahoma (Nov. 8th), but UCLA won out in the end in what comes as at least a minor shock to many around the Texas football program.
Five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack in Austin this weekend
Per a Horns247 report, five-star Gladewater (TX) defensive tackle Daylor Mack has canceled a previously-scheduled visit to Auburn this weekend to take an official trip to Austin to visit the Longhorns.
The #14 prospect in the nation according t0 247Sports' Composite Rankings, Mack is also considering LSU and TCU in advance of National Signing Day.
Arlington offensive guard Tope Imade receives his first offer
6-foot-4.5, 296-pound junior offensive lineman Tope Imade has been a subject of interest for Texas, along with Baylor, TCU, and Texas A&M, but it's Tulane that has gotten in the first offer to the currently non-starred prospect.
Per Brian Perroni of 247Sports, the first-team all-district selection was officially offered by Tulane on Thursday evening.
