The Texas Longhorns' defensive backfield received a huge boost on Friday, with the commitments of four-star Gilmer (TX) cornerback Kris Boyd and four-star Houston (TX) Lamar cornerback Holton Hill.
Per Colt Barber of 247Sports, "Hill and Boyd, good friends who decided to play in college together, instantly vaulted Texas up five spots in the 247Composite class rankings to No. 8 in the country."
The duo came to Austin together on January 16th for an official visit, and the direction of the program under head coach Charlie Strong apparently left a major impression on the two.
The news is double trouble for the Texas A&M Aggies, who were in contention for both Boyd and Hill. Hill also had the LSU Tigers on his shortlist, but all of that is moot now for the two newest Longhorns.
Hill is ranked as the #80 player in the nation by 247Sports, while Boyd is ranked 98th overall.
