The Longhorns came out focused hosting #23 West Virginia, setting the tone early and never looking back on their way to a 33-16 win.
Turning Point: The Longhorns were staked to a 24-3 half time lead. Not much changed in the second half, as the Texas defense held West Virginia at bay despite a late comeback attempt.
The Longhorns only points of the half were a safety and a turnover on downs that set up a short touchdown for the offense.
Key Stat: West Virginia's 16 points were a season-low. Their previous total was 23, back in their season opening loss to Alabama.
West Virginia MVP: Kevin White - 15 receptions, 132 yards
The Mountaineers struggled in this game, but White was still able to post a solid line. Still, the usually dominant receiver was held in check by the Longhorns, as most of his damage came with the game already well in hand.
Texas MVP: Johnathan Gray - 10 carries, 101 yards, three touchdowns
Gray provided a spark alongside Malcolm Brown, as he busted off a big 39-yard touchdown run and added a short score later in the first half. He then iced the game with his third touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
