The Texas Longhorns were confident they were headed to the Texas Bowl for a while now, and that was confirmed earlier in the day. Texas now knows their opponent for the game, and it will be the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Texas represents the Big 12 in this game after finishing their regular season at 6-6. The Longhorns were the obvious choice here thanks largely in part to their proximity to the bowl site, as well as the assurance of a strong fan turnout.
Arkansas heads to the Texas Bowl as the SEC representative. This is a bit of a surprise, as the Razorbacks finished at 6-6 and 7th overall in the SEC. Texas may have been hoping for a better draw for their opponent, but this gives the Longhorns a chance to win a game in front of what should be a large Texas contingency in attendance.
Texas defeated the Razorbacks in 2008, the last time these teams met head-to-head.
