Yale Lary with the Detroit Lions 12212006xSports
Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Yale Lary - one of Texas A&M's greatest NFL alums- died Friday morning at 86, the Hall announced.
Lary made the Hall in 1989 after playing 11 years with the Detroit Lions, from 1952-53 and 1956-64. He served in the U.S. Army between the two stints, making Pro Bowls both before and after his leave. The five-time All-Pro jack-of-trades also helped the Lions to Super Bowl titles in 1952, 1953 and 1957. He split time between safety, punter and punt returner while in the league.
