Why did Texas A&M finish 8-5 again? Failure to improve in these two areas hurt Aggies

HOUSTON -- It’s easy to look at Texas A&M’s season and say it was just another year for the Aggies.

For the third straight year, coach Kevin Sumlin’s squad finished with eight wins. This year, that number feels even hollower considering the Aggies won their first six games and were briefly considered one of the top teams in the country.

But instead of a prominent bowl game, the Aggies settled for the Texas Bowl. In Houston on Wednesday night, Kansas State won 33-28 and handed A&M its first Big 12 loss since it left the conference prior to the 2012 season.
