For the moment it appears as if Saturday afternoon's Texas A&M-Alabama game will be Verne Lundquist's final football broadcast involving a Texas team.
It's been quite a run.
Lundquist's football profile in these parts goes back to the late 1960s when the then WFAA (Channel 8) sports anchor joined Bill Mercer and Blackie Sherrod on Cowboys radio broadcasts. Since 2000, Lundquist has been a national treasure as CBS' voice of Southeastern Conference football.
At 76, he's moving on at season's end.
