The Big 12 isn't very old. In fact, if it were human, it would have only earned the right to drink last year.
But how have the conference -- and the teams leaving and joining it -- fared?
A quick look back: The Big 12 was born in 1996 when the remaining Southwest Conference schools -- Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and Texas Tech -- joined Big Eight schools Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Iowa State.
That core lasted until 2011, when Colorado bolted for its Pac-12 neighbors and Nebraska for the Big Ten.
