COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher looked into Kellen Mond's eyes, like a ring doctor examining a fighter, wondering if he should let the sophomore quarterback continue.
On the two preceding drives of A&M's game against Mississippi, Mond had a fumble returned for a touchdown and threw an interception. Mond didn't know it at the time, but he was at risk of getting benched.
Instead, Fisher kept him in the game.
Mond rewarded his coach's faith and steadied the offense in a 38-24 comeback victory over the Rebels on Saturday at Kyle Field. After those two turnovers, Mond was 5-of-7 passing for 76 yards and two touchdowns.
