Texas Bowl loss leaves A&M, Sumlin feeling frustration of another 8-win season and facing uphill battle in 2017

HOUSTON -- The trophy Kansas State lifted Wednesday night might as well have been a state championship trophy.

The Wildcats ran through Big 12 play by defeating the most prominent programs in Texas. Kansas State completed its Lone Star Sweep in Houston against another state power.

Kansas State topped Texas A&M 33-28, giving the Wildcats wins over every "Power Five" conference program in Texas.

"I really wanted it to be different tonight and wanted to send them (the seniors) out on a good note," A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said. "We didn't get that done."

It was a fitting finish for the Aggies and Texas football.
