COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M sophomore defensive end Myles Garrett made his debut in front of the cameras and recorders of the Aggies beat media on Thursday – and was as impressive as he is on the field.
A&M coach Kevin Sumlin has a policy that doesn’t allow first-year players to visit with the media, so last season Garrett went quietly about his business of collecting 11.5 sacks, a freshman record in the SEC.
Garrett said these days he most admires Texans defensive end JJ Watt, and looks forward to meeting with him some day. Garrett has been nicknamed “Batman” because of his muscular stomach, but he said he considers that nickname too “dark” – that he’s more of a Superman guy.
