Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield issued an apology Monday on Twitter following his arrest two days prior in Fayetteville, Ark., for public intoxication and resisting arrest.

In the letter, addressed to OU president David Boren, athletics director Joe Castiglione, coach Bob Stoops, OC Lincoln Riley, Mayfield's family and OU fans, Mayfield said he has felt "shame, guilt and embarassment" since his arrest.

"Due to the feeling of shame and guilt for misrepresenting our athletics department and specifically my football team, I have found it extremely difficult to be around my teammates the last few days," Mayfield said in the letter.
