Texas A&M turns to Kent, Cal to Jefferies in NCAA tournament regional finale

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M and California are turning to a couple of familiar faces in the NCAA tournament regional finale on Monday night at Blue Bell Park – as each pitcher already has thrown seven innings each in the postseason.

The Aggies will start with left-hander Matt Kent, who pitched seven innings in A&M’s 5-0 victory over Texas Southern on Friday night. Golden Bears right-hander Daulton Jefferies has a little more rest than Kent – but only by about six hours.

Jefferies pitched seven innings on Friday afternoon in Cal’s 9-3 victory over Coastal Carolina. Both teams are expected to turn to their bullpens relatively quickly with a super regional berth on the line, as Kent threw 90 pitches against TSU and Jefferies 115 against CCU.
