COLLEGE STATION -- Keaton Sutherland didn't sugarcoat his response when asked Monday about a significant aspect of Texas A&M's offense.
As the Aggies prepare to open SEC play this weekend against No. 1 Alabama, the A&M senior guard was asked about A&M's rushing attack in conference play last season. Instead of being modest in his criticism, he summed it up in two words -- below average.
In 2017, A&M averaged a mere 3.9 adjusted yards per carry against SEC opponents, a shade lower than the Aggies' season average that was 10th among the conference's 14 schools. On the eve of a road test against the defending national champions, nobody has to tell Sutherland or the rest of the offensive line that it needs to help the rushing attack become more effective.
