Texas A&M men win first indoor championship on home track

COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M men's track team won its first NCAA indoor championships Saturday, edging Florida by a half point, 46-451/2.

The Aggies beat Florida in the final event, the 4x400-meter relay, to seal the NCA title. Texas was ninth with 21 points. A&M's team title ended a string of three straight Oregon titles. The Ducks finished third with 38 points.

A&M's Mylik Kerley passed Florida's Ryan Clark off the final bend and carried the Aggies to a meet record 3:02.80 to earn a crucial 10 points. Coming into the last event, A&M needed to finish first or second and ahead of the Gators.
