Spavital arrived at A&M as the quarterback coach before the 2013 season; he was promoted to offensive coordinator after that season, and A&M struggled to maintain offensive consistency the past two seasons. In Spavital’s defense, he was working with underclass quarterbacks in each of the past two seasons.
“I want to thank Jake for his time here and for his important role in our program,” Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said in a release announcing the news. “He is a bright, young coach with a tremendous future in coaching, and we wish him all of the best in his career.
