Jimbo Fisher reintroduced the tight end at Texas A&M last season and had instant success, striking gold with JUCO transfer Jace Sternberger, who put together an All-American season.
After the bowl game though, Sternberger declared early for the NFL draft, leaving the Aggies without their top returning receiver. Graduate transfer Trevor Wood also departed after serving as A&M's lead blocking tight end.
Furthermore, position coach Tim Brewster left following the end of the regular season to reconnect with Mack Brown at North Carolina. Fisher though made a quick hire, snatching up-and-comer Joe Jon Finley from Missouri, who coached tight ends during bowl season.
