Jimbo Fisher was hired last December and replaces Kevin Sumlin who was fired after six years as the head coach of Texas A&M football. Fisher arrives after eight successful years at Florida State University which includes the 2013 BCS National Championship.
During his eight seasons, Fisher averaged more than 10 wins a season. His final record finished at 83-23 including a stretch where he won 29 consecutive games.
The Fightin’ Texas Aggies will take on Northwestern State (from Louisiana) in the first game of the season. It’s a special Thursday night kickoff and the game will be televised on SEC Network.
