For the past seven seasons, one of the most historic rivalries in college football has gone dormant. Texas vs. Texas A&M football was embedded into Texas family thanksgivings almost as much as the turkey itself, but when Texas A&M left for the SEC it, at least temporarily (hopefully), ended the game.
Texas warned Texas A&M they would not include the Aggies in their non-conference schedule if this move took place. And that’s exactly what happened. A&M has never waned on their want to keep the yearly game going, even with Texas’ weak request for a home-and-home in 2022-23 that A&M declined given Miami is already on the schedule for those years.
