Tyrone Nix played his college ball at Southern Miss as a linebacker in the early 1990’s, since then he’s made a few stop on his coaching career. He spent his first 10 seasons as a coach at Southern Miss. There he coached defensive tackles, outside linebackers and defensive backs before becoming the defensive coordinator in 2001.
He left Southern Miss in 2005 to be the co-defensive coordinator at South Carolina. During his time with the Gamecocks his defensive unit was the best in the SEC in pass defense. In 2007 he moved on to Ole Miss and the defensive line coach.
