The newly reinstated XFL plans to differentiate itself from the NFL on a few key fronts, but perhaps the most intriguing decision is which individuals will and won’t be allowed to play. Speculation had arisen that several big name quarterbacks with mixed NFL success would be prime targets for the XFL, but some of them might not be eligible.
Unlike the NFL, the XFL intends to pursue a rather stringent personal conduct policy. McMahon didn’t mince words when it came to the conduct of the league’s players, specifying that those with a criminal record would not be allowed to participate:
You want someone who does not have any criminality associated whatsoever with them.
